Hotel: Major cities including Nagano, Matsumoto and Karuizawa have first class Western-style hotels. Rates are in the 12,000yen to 35,000yen range for a twin bed room. The major centers in Nagano also have no-frills Western-style business hotels in the 8,000yen to 15,000yen range.
Ryokan: Japanese-style inns are available at all tourist sites. Their prices range form 15,000yen to 25,000yen for deluxe, to 8,000yen to 15,000yen for economy class. Dinner and breakfast included. |

Minshuku: These are family-owned Japanese-style accommodations, usually located at hot spring and ski resorts. Average rate is 6,000yen, which includes two meals.
Pension: Usually Western-style. Prices are in 6,000yen to 8,000yen range, two meals included. Located near ski resorts and summer highland resorts. Tennis, cycling, horseback riding, skiing and ice-skating can be arranged in season.
Youth Hostel & People's Lodge: For the budget minded, youth hostels and People's Lodges are found at various tourist spots and hot springs. Rates average about 3,000yen for the Hostels and 5,000yen for the Lodges. 2 meals included.
